National Holidays (4th of July / Bastille Day / Canada Day)

With three different national holidays coming up – you might have a reason to celebrate this July. In the United States, the 4th of July is Independence Day and is highlighted by a national celebration, often including large parties and fireworks. Canada Day is celebrated on July 1st, and Bastille Day – the national day of France – is celebrated on July 14th.

Is your business located in one or more of these locations? Do you offer brands // dishes // services that can relate to one of these countries? Create a video around these national celebrations. This is a great way to tie your marketing efforts into something that will easily attract your audience and will get them engaged with your brand.

Offer a special sale or discount around each of these dates,  providing an incentive for your customers to use your business. You should also release videos leading up to the big date with special offers, information, or even contests and giveaways! Everyone loves a good celebration.

National Independent Retailer Month

Independent Retailer Month runs throughout July each year. This is an important opportunity to touch on the key role that independent businesses play in the overall economy, and to encourage customers to support them.

If you fall into this category, you can lean into this narrative and present various pieces of information to your customers about the importance of shopping independent. For example, did you know that indie retailers return 46.9% of revenue to the local economy, compared to just 13.6% returned by major chains?

Teaming up with other local businesses to create group videos that can be shared across all social platforms is also a powerful opportunity.

Not a retailer? You can still support the cause by highlighting independent creators that have caught your attention, your favorite local businesses, or encourage your audience to tag their favorite independent businesses in the comments.

Plastic Bag Free Day (July 3rd)

Did you know that 1 million plastic bags are used around the world every minute? Plastic Bag Free Day is a global initiative set to advance the elimination of single-use plastic bags. This is a particularly relevant topic for many retailers, as well as any business that wishes to promote a more sustainable agenda.

Committing as a business to a move away from plastic bags is an obvious play. If that isn’t an option right now, you can use a discount as an incentive for customers to bring their own reusable bags to your store. Or, add your business to this awesome template we’ve prepared:

You can also decide to support this day by educating your followers about plastic bags. Showing your audience that you truly care about this initiative will help build trust as well as earn you some serious bonus points. Not to mention, you’ll be helping the environment!

Give Something Away Day (July 15th)

Source

If there was ever a date on the calendar that was perfectly built for businesses to connect with their audience, it would be National Give Something Away Day. This day is celebrated annually on July 15th, and it is a perfect opportunity for a brand to announce some form of giveaway or special offer.

But sending out an email or adding a regular post to your social media channels isn’t going to make much of a splash. Most customers don’t even know about this annual date (did you?). Using a video to explain what it is and where you tie in will have a much more engaging effect. Whether you plan to give away a sample of one of your products for free, or maybe something intangible like a free consultation, a video is an ideal way to make sure everyone knows about it before July 15th arrives.

Summer Olympics (Kicking off July 24th)

Delayed by a year due to the pandemic, the Summer Olympics are set to begin on July 23rd in Tokyo. While various sports are popular in countries around the globe, the Olympics always pulls even non-sports fans into the fold.

The marketing possibilities for promotional videos tied into the Olympics are nearly endless. Tie your brand into one of the events or celebrate an achievement from an athlete from your nation’s Olympic team. Is your business international? Offer discounts according to major achievements done by athletes – no matter which country they hail from.

After every gold medal for your country, you can offer a special discount. Also, create an inspirational video tapping into that Olympic spirit that everyone admires. After all, who doesn’t love to show some team spirit?

Get to Know Your Customers Day

We mentioned that Give Something Away Day is a perfect fit for businesses, and the same can be said for Get to Know Your Customers Day, a quarterly occasion celebrated on the third Thursday of every January, April, July, and October.

Looking to boost customer loyalty, but don’t know how? This is a great place to start.

Get to know your customers by asking them for their opinion on future developments you had in mind. You can also launch a birthday program (that you can easily follow up on with a happy birthday video and discount).

The possibilities are really endless when it comes to using video to communicate with your audience. If you’re not sure what type of content they want to see from you, just ask them! Post a poll or host a live Q&A; really get to know your customers and what they value.

Comic-Con (July 23-25)

A hugely popular entertainment industry event, Comic-Con is not going to happen in person in 2021 – that will have to wait until 2022. However, there is a virtual version of the event – called Comic-Con@Home that is going to take place July 23 – 25.

Given the tremendous popularity of Comic-Con, and its wide-reaching appeal, this is a natural choice as a tie-in for your content plan. If you don’t have anything specific in mind, you can easily create a video about your all time favorite superhero.

So much of marketing is about getting to know your audience, but this concept is just as important in reverse. Allowing your audience to get to know you, especially if you are a small business owner, is an extremely valuable step toward building lasting relationships.

Alternatively, you can just add your brand logo to this ready-made template with prepared, and enjoy all the fun responses.

Reopening of Businesses

Our last point on the list is a bigger picture item that highlights the overall return of business in 2021. For much of 2020, countless businesses were either forced to close or were greatly restricted in how they could operate. As that starts to change, July 2021 seems poised to be a turning point in many areas.

Using videos is a powerful way to remind your past customers that you are open once again and would love to see them back at your location. One angle to consider is having the owner of the business or employees talk candidly about the past year. Using an emotional connection that everyone can understand will convey the message of how important the customers are and how much you want them to return.

Of course, as powerful as emotion can be, it’s also worthwhile to give a financial incentive for customers to visit when the business reopens. A prize drawing, discounted purchase, or some other form of enticement would pair well with a personal message directly from the owner.

Videos for Every Day of the Month!

Each of these July 2021 marketing ideas can be celebrated by your business with engaging videos. Pick and choose the best options for your advertising endeavors and reach the full marketing potential for this month!

But that’s not all.

Summer is a busy time for businesses, and it can be hard to keep up with the daily grind of social media while trying to juggle so many other things.
